2012 Resolutions

  1. Read one book per month.
  2. Go to the gym at least once a week.
  3. Blog on here at least once a week.

Lizzy is doing a really cool “12 in 2012″ resolution idea. She has 12 different things she’d like to get better at, and each month she’s going to do one of those 12 things every day. When that month is up, she can either continue doing that thing (if the habit has formed), or she can drop it. Either way, each day of the next month will be spent on the next of the 12 things.

Retooling SpencerBean.com

In an effort to consolidate my blogs and (hopefully) write more frequently, this will now be my main blog. As a result, you’ll see more non-technical posts mixed in with the technical, hopefully illuminating the fact that I have a life beyond just coding and working on various side projects. If it helps, I’ll work on categorizing my posts so you can jump directly to the stuff you care about reading.

I’ve also done a bit of a redesign, switching to the default Twenty Eleven theme on WordPress. The header was pieced together after I wrote down the alphabet with a sharpie, took a picture of it, did a Live Trace of the letters in Illustrator, and constructed the header image.

Don’t forget that Lizzy and I are also working on another blog called The Luncheon Project, where we meet new people, take them to lunch, and blog about it. It’s been a great experience so far and we’ve met some pretty incredible people along the way.

A Challenge – New Foods

I realized today that I’m not a big risk-taker when it comes to food. It’s not that I’m picky about different kinds of food–it’s more the fact that when I find something I like, it’s pretty easy to stick with that rather than continuing to try new things, especially at restaurants

But that all ends today. From now on, I plan to take risks and always try something new whenever I go out to eat. I’m going to go find all those things I’m sure I’ve been missing out on.
